The main difference between 304 & 316 stainless steel is that 316 stainless steel has the addition of 2% molybdenum which is added to help resist corrosion to chlorides, like sea water and transport de-icing salts. With this in mind, we offer our standard range Ultrasonic Cleaners made from 304 grade stainless steel usually from UK stock, and can offer Ultrasonic Cleaners 316 stainless steel available to order with both available in custom sizes.
Type 304 stainless steel proves to be resistant to oxidation, corrosion, and is very durable. Type 316 stainless steel has a superior corrosion resistance to chemical attacks compared to 304 stainless steel for example. Although 316 stainless steel costs slightly more than Type 304, it is certainly worth the small investment if your Ultrasonic Tank is in an environment where there is a chance harmful chemical can attack the stainless steel bath or the items being cleaned have been subjected to sea water or de-icing salts.
